On the 17th of May, foreign travel was allowed again based on a traffic-light system. To keep safe, here are the top 5 places you should visit that are on the green list!

1. Portugal

One very popular tourist destination which is why it is first. First place you should visit is the capital of Portugal, Lisbon. Many historic attractions are there like the Castelo de Sao Jorge and Alfama (which is the oldest part of Lisbon). To the east, there are a few museums like Oceanario and to the west in Belem, Portugal’s golden Age of Discovery is included in the Mosteiro dos Jeronimos. Another place you can visit is Sintra which is popular for the Palacio Nacional. This is their signature twin chimneys that are yellow and pink gazing over the town and the waterfront.

2. Iceland

One attraction to visit here is the Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon. This is a glacier lagoon that has a different scenery each time you visit with the icebergs moving all the time. Whilst there, you can visit the Diamond Beach which is just across the road and can see the most beautiful ice formations. Another is the south coast of Iceland, perfect for anytime of year.

3. Singapore

One of the only Asian countries that is on the green list and a beautiful one. The beautifully designed green space called ‘Gardens by the Bay’. It consists of a beautiful garden, a cluster of structures designed to perform environmentally sustainable functions and the tallest indoor waterfall. Another is the Singapore Flyer which allows you to take a look over the city and is the world’s largest giant observation wheel. You can even see as far as the Spice Islands of Indonesia

4. Gibraltar

Not the first place to come to your mind when wanting to travel but there are plenty of beautiful places to visit here. One is Europa Point, the most southerly point of Gibraltar’s peninsula. Including a 19th-century Trinity Lighthouse, an ancient underground water reservoir and the impressive Mosque of the Custodian of the Holy Mosques. Another is the Gibraltar Skywalk. It is 340 meters above the Mediterranean and is quite new to the Gibraltar Nature Reserve, with such amazing views.

5. Brunei

A very underrated place to visit but there is so many attractions to catch one’s eye. Bandar Seri Begawan is the capital and the best place to head first. Two of the most stunning mosques in Southeast Asia are located here as well as the picturesque Kampong Ayer from the waterfront. Brunei has oil reserves which means the rainforests remain free of deforestation and Ulu Temburong National Park is one of them. Overall, a photographer’s dream.
