My Life during COVID-19

Throughout the corona-virus pandemic, it has changed everyone’s day to day lives drastically. As a first-year university student, covid restrictions have been very challenging in many ways, but especially travel. The restrictions have meant wearing masks indoors, not being able to meet up in bigger groups and the uncertainty of the virus itself which disallows a lot of normal university events and has affected many others. However, one situation in my life during this time that differs from a lot of people is travelling back and forth from my university halls to my home address due to me having many orthodontic appointment back in my home address.

Going back and forth for this during the pandemic involve quite long train journeys due to less trains throughout the day. As I have to go in and out of London, the trains and stations have remained busy however, not as busy as they once were. Although, it still leaves me with a slight fear that I would catch the virus whilst travelling and pass it onto others and this fear will be among us for a while. People are all around wearing their masks and keeping the distance between seats which makes it as safe as possible.

When it came to the actual hospital appointments, that also left me with a slight worry that I would catch the virus but got easier with time. During the third lockdown and probably the worst wave of the virus, I often saw ambulances queued around the side but in the actual hospital, they made sure the covid ward was separate. It felt strange to be at the place that is always on the news but many safety precautions are made. However, staff carry less stress now and these appointments feel safer each time I attend.
